A Heart For You is committed to provide trained and competent caregivers to assist our elderly clients. Qualifications consist of the following:

  • Personal care experience
  • Certification or license by the State of Virginia
  • No criminal background
  • Current TB reading
  • Negative Drug Test
  • Positive attitude
  • Good references from reputable employers

Management verifies that all of the above qualifications have been completed and verified before employment is offered. Personal care services provided are listed below. A Heart For You caregivers follow our safety guidelines as listed under each service category.


  • Water temperature and the importance of water too hot and too cold
  • Grab-Bars
  • Slippery Surfaces
  • Non-Skid Mats


  • Elderly client using their walker, cane or wheelchair to go to bathroom
  • Grab-bars

  • Raised toilet seat
  • Importance of wearing gloves
  • Proper perinea care
  • Wheelchair is locked before client stands up to sit on toilet
  • Proper hand washing


  • Make sure the wheelchair is locked before transferring
  • Proper techniques for moving client with oxygenation
  • Explain to client the procedure before moving them

Changing Depends/Diapers

  • Importance of wearing gloves
  • Proper perinea care
  • Proper hand washing
  • Proper disposal


  • Give client the right to choose what they desire to wear
  • Clothes are suitable for the weather
  • Clothes are clean and free of odor
  • Clothes are not too tight or too loose
  • Shoe laces are secure
  • Shoe straps are not too tight or too loose
